Germany has made a change for Indian travelers. Now Indian people can go through airports without a special transit visa.
In Dubai, they said that Germany does not need a transit visa for people anymore. This new rule started on June 3 2026. So, Indian people can go through airports without a special visa as long as they stay in the international transit area.
This decision was published in Germany’s Federal Law Gazette on June 2. It will help Indian travellers who use German airports like Frankfurt and Munich to go to Europe, North America and other places.
Travelling in Europe will be easier now. Before, many Indian people had to get a visa when they changed flights in Germany. This was a lot of work. Cost a lot of money. Now Indian travellers can go through Germany easily. They do not have to fill out a lot of paperwork or wait a long time. This makes their trip a lot simpler.
The Lufthansa Group is happy about this change. They are an airline that flies from India to Europe. They said this will make it easier for people to travel between India and Germany. Lufthansa flies from India to Europe than 70 times a week. They want to add flights and use better planes on some routes.
This change will also help India and Germany work together better. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, talked about this earlier in the year. They said this is a step towards making it easier for people to travel and do business together.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs is also happy about this change. They said it will make it easier for Indian people to travel and will help India and Germany work together more. India and Germany have been friends for 75 years. They are working together on things like renewable energy, education and technology. This change will make Germany a great place for Indian travellers to go through on their way to places.
