A court in Dubai said a company that brings in food has to pay a lot of money to a supplier from another country. This company did not pay for chicken that was sent to them. The Dubai Court of First Instance said the company has to pay 1.43 million dirhams, which’s about $390,503.47. They also have to pay some money as a penalty, which is 5 percent of the total amount every year. This penalty started on February 26 2026. Will keep going until they pay everything they owe.
The company that supplies the food went to court because the importer did not pay them. The supplier sent them chicken but the importer did not pay for it. The supplier tried times to get their money but the importer did not pay.
The supplier showed the court many papers to prove their case. These papers included invoices, records of the shipments and emails, between the two companies. The importer said in these emails that they were having trouble paying.. When the court case happened the importer did not show up or say anything to defend themselves.
The court looked at all the papers the supplier gave them. Decided that the importer was wrong. The court said the importer got the chicken and now they have to pay for it. The supplier wanted the importer to pay 9 percent extra every year. The court said 5 percent was enough.
This decision shows that companies have to pay their debts. If they do not the courts will make them pay. The company that imports food now has to pay all the money they owe plus the extra penalty and all the costs of going to court. The Dubai court wants companies to keep their promises and pay what they owe.
