UAE Receives First Shipment of Advanced US AI Chips

The UAE just got its batch of new American artificial intelligence chips as part of a big tech deal with the United States. This is a deal for both countries as they work together more on AI.

Yousef Al Otaiba, the UAE Ambassador to the US, spoke at the SCSP AI+ Expo in Washington. He said more of these AI chips will arrive in the coming months. This is all part of the UAE-US AI Acceleration Partnership.

The construction of a 5-gigawatt UAE-US AI campus is already underway. It was announced when Donald Trump visited Abu Dhabi a year ago. The first 200 megawatts of this facility will be ready soon.

The US approved the export of thousands of these AI chips last November. This was to help with the project. Al Otaiba called the arrival of the batch a breakthrough. He said it shows trust is growing between the two countries.

The UAE and US partnership could help American AI technology reach half of the world’s population. This is for places that need better digital infrastructure.

Al Otaiba thinks this partnership could be an important economic deal of this decade. He pointed out that the UAE is investing a lot in American AI, manufacturing and energy.

The UAE has already invested $1 trillion in the United States. They plan to invest another $1.4 trillion over the next ten years. More than 30 agreements have been made between the two countries in just the past year.

Al Otaiba said the UAE is committed to working with technology. They have no plans to switch to systems.

The UAE has been working on AI for a while. They even appointed the world’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence in 2017. They also set up the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. This university is an AI research institution.

The ambassador said the UAE has put in place rules to secure advanced technologies. They are working with the US on this. He said the future of AI must be built on trust and transparency.
