Saudi Arabia Issues New Rules for Pilgrims Carrying Controlled Medicines

Riyadh, May 7 2026: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority made rules for people who are going on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with medicines that have strong ingredients.

These new rules say that people must get a permit before they can bring these medicines into Saudi Arabia when they go for the Hajj season. To get this permit people have to give some documents like a copy of their passport a note from their doctor that’s not older than six months and pictures of the medicine and its packaging.

People who are going on pilgrimage also have to fill out a form on the computer before they can ask for the permit.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority said that people can only bring a 30-day supply of these medicines or the amount they need for the time they will be in Saudi Arabia, whichever is less. The amount of medicine they can bring is decided by what the doctor said they should take.

People can ask for the permit through the Electronic Controlled Drugs System by making their account on the website.

The people in charge said they made these rules so that people who are going on pilgrimage can have an easy time. So they can protect everyones health and make sure people are using these strong medicines correctly during the pilgrimage.

A lot of people go on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia every year so the government has to make strict rules to keep everyone safe and healthy at the sites.

People who are going on pilgrimage and need to take medicine should get all their documents ready ahead of time and follow all the rules so they do not have problems when they get to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has made rules for people who are going on pilgrimage, with certain medicines and now people can only bring a 30-day supply and they have to get permission before they travel to Saudi Arabia with these medicines.
