Nafis Expands Family Support While Defining Eligibility for Women

The Nafis Programme has rules for Emirati women who want to get child allowance. This is to help families and make the rules clearer.

The new rules say that Emirati women who work in the sector can get the allowance only if they are the main person taking care of their children. This means if their husband is dead not working or cannot work.

You Need to Prove You Are Responsible

To get the benefit you need to show papers that prove you are taking care of your children. You need a court paper that says you are the person taking care of them. You also need to show that your husband cannot give you money.

But if you are an Emirati woman married to a man who’s not from the UAE you cannot get the child allowance.

More Help for Families

The Nafis Programme has changed the rules so that you can get help for all your children no matter how many you have.

You get Dh600 for each child every month if you do not earn than Dh50,000. Now around 38,000 children are getting this help.

Who Else Can Get This Help?

The programme says you can get this help if:

  • You work in the sector or in a bank or in insurance
  • You earn between Dh6,000 and Dh50,000 every month
  • Your salary is paid through the Wage Protection System
  • You do not get a salary, from the government
  • If you own part of the company you work for it may affect if you can get this help

How Long Do You Get This Help?

You get this help for your sons until they are grown up or start working. You get this help for your daughters until they get married or start working.

Helping Families

The UAE wants to help families and make sure they are doing well. The Nafis Programme is helping with this by giving help to families.

By giving help and making the rules clearer the Nafis Programme is doing a great job of helping Emirati families who work in the private sector.
