Abu Dhabi Police warn: Remote apps could empty your bank account

Abu Dhabi Police warn people about something important: some apps can be used by bad people to take all the money from your bank account.

Abu Dhabi Police is telling people who live in Abu Dhabi to be careful because some bad people are using apps to get control of peoples devices and steal their money.

The police are doing this as part of their “Stay Alert” campaign to help people.

They want people to know that bad people are using tools that are meant for things like getting help with computer problems working from home and sharing screens.

The police say that bad people usually pretend to be bank workers, computer helpers or people who fix things and they trick people into downloading apps that let them get into peoples devices.

When they get into someones device they can see all their information like bank account numbers, passwords and special codes that are only used once.

This means they can take money from peoples accounts without permission.

The police want people to remember that no bank will ever ask you to tell them your codes, passwords or special numbers.

The police are telling people to do these things to stay safe:

  • Do not download apps from people you do not know or trust
  • Do not listen to people who call you and ask you to put software on your device
  • Never tell anyone your information over the phone or on the internet

The police also want people to tell them if they see something suspicious.

You can call 8002626. Send a message to 2828 or you can go to the police station. The police also want people to keep their devices safe by making sure they have the updates and using good security software. They say that bad people are getting smarter so we need to be careful. Know what is going on to protect ourselves.

Abu Dhabi Police is warning people to be careful because scams are getting more complicated. The best way to protect yourself is to be careful and stay informed, about Abu Dhabi Police warnings and what they say about remote access apps.
