Dubai’s Airport Road Reopens After Drone-Linked Disruption Near DXB

Authorities Restore Normal Traffic Flow Following Morning Incident

Traffic is moving smoothly again on Dubai’s busy Airport Road after a temporary closure earlier today, which was put in place as authorities responded to a drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport. Dubai Police confirmed that all affected lanes have now reopened, allowing motorists to resume their usual routes.

Key Routes Impacted During Temporary Closure

The incident led to traffic restrictions on several major approaches, including Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Al Khawaneej, and the Marrakech Street intersection heading toward Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The closures were implemented as a precaution to manage traffic flow and ensure public safety while emergency teams responded.

Drone Incident Near DXB Triggers Response

The disruption was prompted by a drone incident in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport, where a fuel tank was affected. Dubai Civil Defence teams acted swiftly, containing the resulting fire and confirming that no injuries were reported. The situation was brought under control within a short time.

Flight Operations Briefly Disrupted

As a safety measure, Emirates temporarily suspended inbound and outbound flights at Dubai International Airport. By around 10:00 am UAE time, flight operations began to gradually resume, though some flights were cancelled or diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for updated schedules and travel advisories.

Authorities Continue Monitoring Area

With the immediate threat resolved, Dubai authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure traffic and airport operations remain stable. Motorists are advised to stay updated through official Dubai Police channels, follow traffic alerts, and allow extra time when travelling to and from the airport.

Dubai’s Airport Road has fully reopened following this morning’s drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport. Thanks to the quick response from emergency teams and coordinated efforts by authorities, the disruption was resolved without injuries, and both traffic and flight operations are returning to normal. Drivers and travellers are reminded to remain vigilant and check for real-time updates as the situation continues to be monitored.
