Nation’s Defence Systems Successfully Thwart Wave of Threats
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence has announced that its air defence systems intercepted seven ballistic missiles and 27 drones launched from Iran on March 13, 2026. The interception was part of ongoing defensive operations designed to protect the UAE’s airspace, critical infrastructure, and residents as regional tensions continue to escalate.
Hundreds of Threats Neutralised Since Attacks Began
Since the onset of these attacks, UAE defence forces have demonstrated remarkable efficiency and readiness, intercepting a total of 285 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,567 drones. Authorities highlighted that these threats were neutralised before causing widespread damage, showcasing the effectiveness of the country’s layered air-defence capabilities.
Casualties and Prompt Medical Response
Despite the robust defence measures, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that six people have lost their lives as a result of the attacks, while 141 others sustained minor to moderate injuries. Victims include UAE nationals as well as residents from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Ethiopia, and other countries. Emergency response teams were deployed rapidly, providing medical support and assistance to those affected.

Officials emphasised that the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to any future threats, reaffirming the government’s commitment to defending national sovereignty, public safety, and vital infrastructure.
