Dubai Launches New Beach Library at Jumeirah Beach 2, Blending Leisure with Learning

Dubai residents and visitors now have a delightful new way to combine relaxation and reading, thanks to the launch of a beach library at Jumeirah Beach 2. Announced by Dubai Municipality on its official social media platforms, the innovative initiative invites beachgoers to browse a curated collection of books and enjoy them right by the water’s edge.

Promoting Reading During UAE’s Month of Reading

The opening comes during the UAE’s Month of Reading, a nationwide campaign that has been encouraging a love of books and knowledge across the country since 2016. Dubai Municipality emphasized that the beach library is part of a broader goal to build a culture of reading and lifelong learning among all residents and visitors.

“Are you at Jumeirah Beach 2? Pick your favourite book from the beach library and enjoy a relaxing read by the sea alongside exciting beach activities,” the municipality posted, encouraging everyone to share their reading experiences.

Family-Friendly and Free for All

A video shared with the announcement spotlights the family-friendly nature of the project, showing a young boy browsing the shelves and discovering new stories. The new facility adds to Dubai’s expanding network of beach libraries, first launched at Kite Beach, as part of an effort to blend leisure with learning in public spaces.

Dubai Municipality has plans to roll out a total of eight beach libraries across the city’s coastline, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a city that values both recreation and education.

Easy Access and Diverse Selection

The libraries are completely free and open to everyone. Visitors can simply walk up, select a title, and settle in for a relaxing read on the sand. The collection spans both Arabic and English books, with something for every reader—ranging from literature and history to children’s stories and more.

A Unique Space for Relaxation and Discovery

By bringing books directly to popular waterfronts, Dubai is creating unique spaces where community members and tourists can unwind, expand their horizons, and embrace the joy of reading—all while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of the city’s beloved beaches.
